Notes & Reviews:

Shura Cherkassky, was one of the 20th Century's greatest romantic virtuosos, a pupil of the legendary pianist Josef Hofmann at the Curtis institute in Philadelphia. The potent combination of Cherkassky and Sir Georg Solti conducting Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in London's Royal Festival Hall in 1968 marks this all Russian program as one of the most exciting releases on BBC Legends this year.
