Notes & Reviews:

Tilman Riemenschneider is now regarded as one of the leading German sculpters of the Late Gothic period. The music on this recording, played here on copies of original instruments of the period, is largely taken from German song-books, collections of works current in the late 15th century. They offer a wide spectrum of music of the time, ranging from dances to marches, tavern songs, religious songs of entreaty, songs of suffering and of love.
