Notes & Reviews:

Haydn is one of the most prolific, proficient and popular symphonists of all time. The symphonies on this disc range from Haydn's pre-Esterhazy period of 1758 to 1768, when he was in the family's employ. Each work here is notable for some aspect, be it the final fugue of 'Symphony No. 40' or the virtuoso oboe solos of 'Symphony No. 38'.
