Notes & Reviews:
Menuhin's performance of the Elgar Violin Concerto conducted by the composer in 1932, when the young violinist was only 16, became a landmark recording and he has always been associated with this particular work. His second recording made in 1966 with Sir Adrian Boult conducting the New Philharmonia has also has remained in the catalog for many years. This broadcast from the Royal Festival Hall in 1965 precedes the commercial recording by a year and as with live performances.
