John Lill is widely considered the leading British pianist of his generation. He has been performing Rachmaninov his entire career, having given his first performance of the Rachmaninov Third Concerto at the age of 18, under the baton of Sir Adrian Boult. In 1987 Lill was appointed Principal Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
