Notes & Reviews:

The Amadeus Quartet played an important role in Deutsch Grammophone's legacy. Starting in 1950's the quartet had a long and distinguished career. Sadly, in April of 2005, Norbert Brainin, its' long time leader, passed away. As a tribute to this special group, this 2-CD set features rare recordings. Included is a commemorative booklet with a specially commissioned article by Tully Potter, a friend of the Quartet, and a selection of photographs documenting their long career.

BBC Music Magazine
Released as a tribute to the late Norbert Brainin, this generously filled set traverses repertory not normally associated with the Amadeus. They do not seem entirely at ease with the Tchaikovsky or Smetana, but their Bruckner is delivered with great affection and Viennese warmth.
