Notes & Reviews:

Since the mid 1980s, the music of Russian composer Alexander Knaifel has reflected his search for a direct form of sacred musical expression. The resultant music has often been composed by critics to that of Part, Tavener and Gorecki. Knaifel's idiom is all his own, but the works have a comparable aura of religious devotion that communicates readily with the listener.
