Album Summary

>Rochberg, George : Symphony no 2
>Rochberg, George : Imago Mundi, for orchestra
Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

"This is a premiere recording of 'Imago mundi,' a symphonic poem commissioned by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and a souvenir of Rochberg's visit to Japan in 1973... Rochberg was a rare soul, however, and I find 'Imago mundi,' ("Image of the world") rather remarkable for the way in which disparate elements are seamlessly combined together to form a satisfying and moving whole. "Rochberg died last year at the age of 86, so these recordings (even though they date from 2000-01) are fitting memorials. Certainly, it will be hard to improve upon Lyndon-Gee and Saarbrucken Radio Symphony Orchestra in 'Imago Mundi.'"-Raymond Tuttle, Fanfare
