Album Summary

>Tippett, Michael : The Rose Lake, for orchestra
>Tippett, Michael : Ritual Dances from "The Midsummer Marriage", for chorus ad lib & orchestra
Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

On holiday in Senegal in 1990, Tippett was taken to visit a small lake, le Lak Rose, which under the midday sun is transformed from a 'whitish green colour' to 'whitish pink'. This phenomenon inspired an orchestral work which, although not programmatic, or even necessarily descriptive, was intended to evoke that unique experience.
