The cast includes many emerging artists Karajan later used in his Vienna and Salzburg productions - Giulietta Simionato, Nicolai Gedda, Michel Roux, Hilde Guden and Graziella Sciutti. This recording has been remastered from the original Wiener Symphoniker master tapes. Included in the booklet is a full libretto in English and original reviews of the performance.
