Notes & Reviews:
In 19th Century Malta, music came to mean two things: opera and music for the sacred liturgy. Secular music practically fell by the wayside. Many Maltese composers, including those on this new volume in this series, sought advanced musical studies abroad, particularly in Italy. Church music in Malta would eventually reflect these newly-learned influences. Anyone interested in liturgical music from this period will have to hear this CD.
