Notes & Reviews:

Mendelssohn's piano music is informed by a poetically romantic depth of feeling and a light-hearted graceful elegance, which sets it worlds apart from the respectable bourgeois dullness of its period. From his youth, Mendelssohn was a brilliant pianist, whose free improvisations at the instrument were the wonder of all the capitals of Europe. Matthias Kirschnereit is one of the leading German pianists of his generation. A professor at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Rostock since 1997, he lives in Hamburg.
