Notes & Reviews:

"These are excellent performances across the board... The highlight is Libor Pesek's gorgeous recording of 'A Summer Tale,' still the best version available, superior to his later remake for Virgin Classics. The Czech Philharmonic plays like demons in the fourth movement, and the velvety-toned strings at the beginning of the finale, 'Night,' are beyond lovely. Vaclav Neumann also leads a first-rate Asrael Symphony, with particularly clear, powerful climaxes at the end of the first movement and in the finale. The two late tone poems, 'Ripening' and 'Epilogue,' are equally fine. Pesek is back for colorful, dynamic interpretations of 'Praga' and 'Fairy Tale,' two shorter works that deserve much wider exposure than they get outside of the Czech Republic. The digital sonics are consistently realistic... and the bottom line is that you simply can't do better in this repertoire. Self-recommending." -David Hurwitz, ClassicsToday.com
