Notes & Reviews:

Born and trained in Russia, the composer Alla Pavlova later settled in America and composed music for a variety of media ranging from film and dance to theater. Her 'Sulamith Suite' is a collection of excerpts from her ballet of the same name based on Alexandre Kuprin's dramatic and touching love story of King Solomon and the servant girl Sulamith. 'The Old New York Nostalgia' is a telling look at metropolitan life made all the more poignant by the inclusion of the movement 'Lullaby for the Twins', composed after and dedicated to the victims of 9/11. Pavlova's symphonies 1-4 can be heard on Naxos 8557157 and 8557566.
