Russian pianist Boris Bekhterev studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the Soviet Union, Europe, the U.S. and in Japan. Formerly a professor at the Moscow Conservatory, he now lives in Japan and teaches at Kobe College and Mukowaga University.

Bekhterev concentrates on Scriabin's earliest works. Bekhterev makes his most positive impression in just three of the shorter numbers and in portions of the opening Allegro Appassionato piece. The last remarkable work is the first of two Pieces for the Left Hand. Similar in tone to the B-flat minor Nocturne from Op. 12, this one is more reserved. The lines emerging out of all registers of the keyboard are fantastically woven together. He plays them competently enough, and they are of average quality. The rest of the recording is astoundingly good.
