Notes & Reviews:
Reflection celebrates 500 years of music-making in the English Parish Church and features familiar composers such as Byrd, Tallis, Bach, Mozart and Elgar giving over an hour's music to soothe the soul. The music is performed by the UK's finest mixed choir, The Choir of Clare College Cambridge, directed by Timothy Brown.

The choral tone and discipline are exemplary. These are not dauntingly virtuosic choral pieces, but they are delivered with care and refinement, with expressive warmth yet understatement. As the title of the program suggests, these are all works of a tranquil and meditative character. As I listened to the entire program at a sitting, I found myself wishing for a wider range of expression, but there is no denying that the individual performances are exquisite.
