Melodie Zhao (Piano)
Notes & Reviews:
A Swiss pianist of Chinese origin, Mélodie Zhao studied in Beijing and at the Geneva Conservatory. She began her career as an international concert pianist at age 12, being asked to play at festivals and concerts series such as the Zurich Festival. She regularly performs with major ensembles such as the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, the Geneva Symphony Orchestra and the Shanghai Philharmonic and is on the music faculty of the University of Shengli.
American Record Guide, November/December 2012
She also boasts an outstanding sound. The piano is close miked and dry, allowing for absolute clarity; but it is never sterile. The tones in her chords stack up well and resonate warmly. Her finger pedaling is perfect, too, resulting in fine, legato lines that display a minimum of schmaltz.
