American Record Guide, November/December 2013
Mondry's playing is animated and coherent. Scheiber gives us a fresh and clear early music soprano sound that is well suited to the repertory. The organ at St Peter's Church, Basel, is a reconstruction of a Johann Andreas Silbermann instrument built in 1770 for St Theodore's Church in that city. There had been an organ built in 1711 at St Peter's by JA Silbermann's father, Andreas Silbermann. Parts of the JA Silbermann organ were preserved in the Basel Historical Museum, and these were incorporated in the reconstructed instrument built by Neidhart & Lh"te in 1968. The organ is beautifully recorded here. The tone is bold and bright with some pungent reeds. The quieter stops, especially the eight-foot flutes used here for continuo playing, are delicate and refined.
