Franz Kromer: Three Flute Quartets, Opp. 17, 92 & 93 / Peter-Lukas Graf, flute; Carmina Trio

Ensemble

Notes & Reviews:

Franz Krommer's music is characterized by freshness, vivacity, diverse rhythms and attractive harmonies, showing a great deal of Haydn's influence. The acclaimed Peter-Lukas Graf is joined by the Carmina String Trio for these performances.

American Record Guide, July/August 2013
Peter-Lukas Graf is a renowned Swiss flutist known better in Europe. The Carmina String Trio (also Quartet) has won prizes at several international competitions since it was founded in 1982. They play Stradivarius instruments owned by the Habisreutinger Foundation, which has two of nine extant violas. Oh, yes, about the music. The recording is close and the flutist's tone is vivid and saturated. The string sounds are glorious. The sound and playing here is better, and the music well worth hearing.
