Notes & Reviews:

A fascinating combination: the classic recordings by Karajan and the Philharmonia when Dennis Brain was a member of the orchestra and the 1937 performance by Viscount Hidemaro Konoe who was a co-founder and conductor of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. These original 78's appear to be the first ever recordings of German music by a Japanese conductor with a first-class German orchestra.
