If any production in the world music since the dawn of this new millennium has gone down in history as a full-blown scandal, it is Hans Neuenfels' production of the operetta 'Die Fledermaus' by Johann Strauss at the Salzburger Festspiele. This time, however, unconventional directing was accompanied by substantial alterations in the libretto. Neuenfels wrote new dialog, incorporating texts from other authors: Karl Kruas, Gottfried Benn and Hugo Ball.Notes & Reviews:
