Shostakovich: The Bolt / Sorokin, Bolshoi Ballet [DVD]

Album Summary

>Shostakovich, Dmitri : Bolt, Op. 27
Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

Composed in 1931 by Dmitri Shostakovich, The Bolt, based on a book by Viktor Smirnov, has been revived for the first time in more than seventy years. Shostakovich's second ballet is a caustic and colorful tale of skullduggery and counter-revolutionary wickedness in a Soviet factory. This new Bel Air DVD is the world-premiere recording of the complete ballet. Alexei Ratmansky's choreography is spectacular, opening with a ballet of giant robots and ending in a delirious blood-red grand parade. The Bolshoi Ballet is on top form, and the HDTV video offers state of the art visual quality.
