Notes & Reviews:

Smetana's second opera, 'Die Verkaufte Braut' was composed in 1863–1870, and was originally envisioned as an operetta. Though it received its premiere in Prague in 1866, the composer continued to tinker until 1970. In this performance Adam Fischer conducts the Orchester der Wiener Staatsoper with Alfred Sramek, Lucia Popp, Walter Fink and Siegfried Jerusalem.
