Notes & Reviews:
In 1874, a group of artists nicknamed "the Impressionists" scandalized Paris with their first exhibition. These spirited young painters declared that the essence of their art was about capturing the impression of the moment in a playful and colorful light. Cassatt, Caillebotte, Liebermann, Kroyer and Edelfelt represented a worldwide revolt that ushered in modernism by breaking away from the conventional ways of seeing the world.
