Notes & Reviews:
Richard Strauss and his Heroines explores Strauss' relationship to women, focused primarily on his attachment to his wife of more than 55 years, Pauline. The film explores the changing image of women during Strauss' lifetime and his concomitant ability to express feminine feelings in his music. Interviews with the great Straussian singers, his last surviving grandchild and other Strauss experts lead us through the film. - Bonus: Furtwängler conducts Till Eulenspiegel; A Life For Music (excerpts)Notes & Reviews:
