Notes & Reviews:
On the Rojotango - Live in Berling DVD and Blu-ray, opera str Erwin Schrott returns to his roots in Uruguay, the original source of tango and milongas. It was from the banks of the Rio de la Plata that tango conquered the world. Wit it sextremes of tenderness, melancholy and erotic passion, this music feels like it was created for the dark timbre of Schrott's bass-baritone voice. His charismatic and seductive stagge presence is captured in this exhilarating performance that was filmed in June 2013 during his Rojotango tour in Europe. Rojotango - Live combines tango with Argentine and Brazilian folk songs and features music from legendary tango composers Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Gardel, Antonio Carlos Jobim and more. Says Schrott, "Tango is a mixture of passion, thrill, pain, bliss, sorrow and freedom."
Erwin Schrott has gained accolades from audiences and critics alike with his voluminous bass-baritone voice. He has performed at all the great opera houses of the world in roles that demand an outstaning personality and radiance - he is generally regarded as the best contemporary interpreter of the great Mozartian roles of don Giovanni, Leporello and Figaro. Schrott has performed at the world's major opera houses including Theatro all Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Opera National de Paris Royal Opera, Covent Gardens and many more.
