Notes & Reviews:
This is Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker from a different point of view - refreshing, unusual and very hip-hop. This is what the French choreographer Bouba Landrille Tchouda makes out of E.T.A. Hoffmann's story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's romantic and moving composition. Together with his Compagnie Malka he interprets the classical ballet in a surprisingly modern way, adding music by Yvan Talbot... and a lot of Hip-Hop. Hip Hop is where Bouba Landrille Tchouda originally comes from, and what enables him to create new perspectives on classical works never seen or heard like that before. "Proposing a Nutcracker that reinvents a phantasmagorical world infused with the energy of the present day by invoking hip-hop dance, so as to convey this story to our children and all those who cultivate the strength of desire, the search for the unreachable star, hope, love with its terrors, its share of shadows, uncertainties... via the dance!"
