Bruno Monsaingeon Edition, Vol 2 - Yehudi Menuhin [8 DVD]

Notes & Reviews:

This EuroArts 8DVD, 4 Blu-ray disc edition documents the artistic heritage of one of the greatest violinists, as well as humanitarians, of the 20th c., the late Yehudi Menuhin (1916-99). Mr. Menuhin stood on stage in service to music and humanity for 70 years. This edition contains a total of 13 films by outstanding music filmmaker Bruno Monsaingeon, who has so often documented artists in definitive fashion. Most of the films to be found in this set are being published for the first time on DVD or Blu-ray Disc, including the 3 part documentary "Menuhin returns to the USSR" ("Retour aux Sources"), five concert programs in Leningrad and Moscow showing his triumphant appearances during Perestroika in 1987 and 1989, the third movement of the Elgar Concerto which has never been published, the big retrospective documentary film "The Violin of the Century" and other films like "Four Seasons" and the Brahms Concerto. The conversations with Menuhin in Mykonos, dating from 1994, have been exclusively edited for this edition, which also includes an interview with the filmmaker recorded in Berlin in January 2014.
