Vincent Van Gogh: A Life Devoted to Art (art documentary, 2009) - presents the artist's life story and all of his masperpieces plus interviews with family members and the director of the Van Gogh Museum [DVD]

Notes & Reviews:

This incredible documentary is one of the few that is authorized by the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam, and with two DVDs, this is truly a remarkable release. This documentary explores Van Gogh's entire life story, from his childhood in Brabant, through his apprenticeship in Nuenen and coming of age in Paris, all the way to his peak in southern France. The documentary was filmed on scene at all of these locations which were so important to this artist's life. The film includes all of the artist's masterpieces, as well as a great deal of his less famous paintings and sketches, as well as commentary from experts at the Van Gogh Museum who provide insight into the artist's inspiration. A second DVD includes exclusive interviews with Van Gogh family members as well as the director of the Van Gogh Museum. "The most extensive documentary film on Van Gogh, by experts from the Van Gogh Museum."
