Notes & Reviews:

This is the second of two CDs presenting Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for unaccompanied violin in distinctive and strongly individualistic performances by French violinist Helene Schmitt, playing on a Baroque violin by 18th century craftsman Camillo Camilli using a curved period bow. These archetypal works for solo violin require a player of the highest caliber to evoke both the spirituality and virtuosic nature of the music. Schmitt rises to the challenge as she did in the first, critically acclaimed volume.
