Album Remarks & Appraisals:
This recording of classic hit songs from 1930s Germany features three of the best known composers of light music, Werner Richard Heymann, Gerhard Winkler, and Peter Kreuder, who wrote prolifically for cabaret, operetta, the stage and the first talking movies. Among the many highlights on this disc are Heymann's 'Irgendwo auf der Welt' (Somewhere in the world), Kreuder's 'Fur eine Nacht voller Seligkeit' (For a night full of happiness) and Winkler's 'Casanova-Lied,' all of which enjoy enduring popularity.
