Notes & Reviews:

David Cohen was born in Tournai, Belgium in 1980. He began studying cello at age seven. After studying at the Brussels Royal Conservatory, he went on to the Yehudi Menuhin School in London on a scholarship. A second scholarship enabled him to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Among his teachers were E. Baert, G. Hoffman, Natalia Gutman, Yehudi Menuhin, and Rostropovich. In addition to winning prizes in a number of international contests, he was awarded the title of "Young Soloist of the Year 2002" by the 'Radio francophones publiques,' a radio union whose members include the Belgian Radio and Television, Radio Canada, Radio France, and Radio Suisse Romande. The French, Belgian, Swiss and Canadian jurors were impressed by the maturity, style, refinement and temperament of Cohen's performances.
