Notes & Reviews:

If one doesn't already know the name Peter Rosel by now, this attractive boxed set will certainly get your attention. Having won awards at prestigious competitions (the Tchaikovsky in 1966, the Montreal Piano in 1968), he used his studies at the Tchakovsky Conservatory in Moscow to launch an international career. A student of Lev Oborin and Dimitri Bashkirov, his close ties with both Kurt Masur and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra led to his involvement with the New York Philharmonic. Apart from giving concerts and recitals, Peter Rosel has more than 50 records to his credit. Spiritually, transparency and balance combined with an impeccable technique are the hallmarks of his performances.
