Notes & Reviews:

Johann Wilhelm Wilms (1772-1847) was the most important composer in the Amsterdam music during the first half of the 19th century, occupying a place similar to that of Berwald in Sweden. Born in Germany two years after Beethoven, he was influenced by the works of Haydn and Mozart. He wrote a number of symphonies, but only a handful of them are available on CD.
