Notes & Reviews:
Diabelli published these particular works for guitar and fortepiano between 1816 and 1818. One reason for writing these duos was possibly that the instruments are very similar in timbre. Though much of the music he wrote in this category could be considered "light music" for everyday use, it is possible, here and there, to pick out harmonies, stronger dynamics and other stylistic innovations that were later to blossom in the Romantic era. Virta studied at the Sibelius Academy, and since his professional debut in 1982, he has given solo and chamber recitals in Scandanavia and Central Europe.
