Notes & Reviews:

The viola works on this CD span centuries, from Bach to Hindemith. They all stress the individual, often melancholic sound of the instrument. Currently only a few violinists are performing solo works for the instrument, and prominent among them is Esther Apituley, who studied in Amsterdam and Berlin, and today is a professor in Amsterdam.
