Notes & Reviews:

This 3-CD box offers the complete chamber works of Wilhelm Furtwangler - barring a few very early works of lesser or no interest. Furtwangler always considered himself as a composer who was condemned to conducting, and not as a conductor who would compose from time to time for his pleasure. The music itself remains faithful to the traditional sonata-form, with immense romantic urges and the occasional "tragic touch".
