Notes & Reviews:

One of Germany's premier experimental organist/composers of today meets one of the masterpieces of the Bach canon on this recording. Gerd Zacher was born in Meppen in 1929. A pupil of Bialis, Heintze, Schneider and Thomas at the North-West German Academy of Music, he was strongly influenced by Olivier Messiaen. He has designed and systematized new effects of performing on the organ and has appeared frequently as a recitalist throughout Europe and the United States.
