Notes & Reviews:

This Albert Roussel-disc couples the Second Symphony with one of Roussel's most popular pieces, the complete ballet music for Bacchus et Ariane. This CD is the first of a cycle of three releases featuring the complete four symphonies and the two most celebrated ballets by the French composer Albert Roussel, performed by the Orchestre de Paris and Christoph Eschenbach. Eschenbach holds a reputation as one of today's champions of new and undiscovered repertoire.

Gramophone
Brilliantly played by the Orchestre de Paris. Roussel's symphony has lived far too long in the shadows; this disc should help bring it out into the light.
