Performer Composers

Notes & Reviews:

Both of these composers were leading lights of late Swedish Romanticism. Wilhelm Stenhammar, who studied with one of Clara Schumann's pupils, lived long enough to witness the transition from the Romantic era to the developments of the early 20th century. Emil Sjogren's output was dominated by songs for solo voice and accompaniment and a number of chamber and piano pieces. Organist Bernt Wilhelmsson made a highly-acclaimed debut in 1997 with the Gothenburg Symphony performing the Emperor Concerto of Beethoven.
