Notes & Reviews:

This 10 CD compilation is the only complete collection of the symphonies of Dmitri Shostakovich conducted by his son Maxim Shostakovich. This compilation of live recordings is being released to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Shostakovich's birth on September 25. Thanks to Maxim Shostakovich's relationship to his father's works, this project is marked by the highest authenticity; Dmitri Shostakovich devoted both fatherly and musical care to his son, dedicating a number of pieces to him and entrusting him with the conducting of more than one important premiere.

"A world-class performance, authentically at one with the sound, syntax and imagery of Shostakovich's wracked genius." - BBC Music Magazine

"I think it's important that Maxim Shostakovich's views on this music have been preserved at last This is a cycle to live with--a true reference for anyone wanting a baseline view of how each work ought to go, and what it expresses."- Classics Today (9/9)
