Notes & Reviews:

"Ohio Light Opera (I sometimes work with them) made their production of The Firefly one of last season's high points, thanks to Mr Daigle's new, tightened libretto and taut direction, and also thanks to the new orchestrations by Schweibacher, which charmingly recapture the 1910 era. Robin De Leon is probably quite like Emma Trentini was, with her startlingly opera-house voice and manner, and her sometimes incomprehensible English (not that this matters much in these affairs, and you do have the lyrics printed out). That works well in this work, and those who recall Jeanette Macdonald may remember that she played a nightclub- singer-cum-spy in the entirely different movie treatment All in all, this Firefly is delightful, a lovely souvenir of a vanished but still vibrant era, and you will want this glittering insect hovering near your CD player." -ARG
