Bjorn Malmqvist studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with the renowned bassist Olli Kosonen. After ten years of study in Finland, Malmqvist returned to his native Norrkoping where he is now principal of the bass section of the Symphony Orchestra. The music on this CD is all written for double-bass solo, except for the Christensen, which is a duet with cello.
