Album Summary
Conductors Ensembles ComposersNotes & Reviews:
Christmas concertos by Michael Praetorius form the nucleus of this recording, specifically late works from his collection 'Polyhymnia caduceatrix et panegyrica.' Praetorius was one of the most important German composers of the Early Baroque, and made decisive contributions to the development of Protestant music. Praetorius was an adventurous innovator who, especially in his late works, did much to further the stylistic development of sacred music.
