Johann Fischer: Complete Organ Works / Serge Schoonbroodt

Album Summary

>Fischer, Johann Caspar Ferdinand : Ariadne Musica
>Fischer, Johann Caspar Ferdinand : Blumen-Strauss
Performer Composer

Notes & Reviews:

Much of Fischer's music was influenced by the French Baroque style, as exemplified by Jean Baptiste Lully. His complete surviving works for organ are included on this CD, and the fact that Fischer is so little remembered may be seen as ironic. The case in point is his Ariadne Musica, in two parts. The first part, consisting of twenty preludes and fugues, each composed in a different key (and one in Phrygian Mode), has been considered a significant precursor to The Well-Tempered Clavier. This CD throws a significant light on an unjustly forgotten composer.
