This is the latest CD from the exceptional St. Petersburg Admiralty Band, directed since 1985 by the Honored Artist Commander Alexei Karabanov.The pieces and songs they perform are closely related to St. Petersburg and the Admiralty Navy Band. St. Petersburg is a metropolis that holds both Russian and European culture, and this disc represents repertoire both from the band's native, pre-revolutionary past as well as the present (the colorful Pantchenko Ocean was written in 1996), and music of foreign composers the band plays as a tribute to various audiences during their European tours.
