Album Summary
Performer
Mark Bebbington (Piano)
Notes & Reviews:
Little is known about Bridge's chamber and piano music and we can be thankful to Somm for this release, the first of what will eventually be a three-CD survey of the complete piano music. The works on this disc range from the early Capriccios, with clear roots in the music of Faure and Scriabin, to his most substantial work, the Sonata, which is more experimental in every way than any of his other piano pieces, as well as emotionally more challenging. The critical acclaim which has greeted Mark Bebbington's recent performances and recordings has singled him out as a young British pianist of the rarest refinement and maturity.
