Notes & Reviews:

"Three BBC studio sessions from the great Dame Myra are an unexpected and welcome find...It begins with some of the loveliest Bach you will ever hear. The short Prelude in G, shorn of its Fughetta later reworked as one of the "48", is followed by the English Suite No 2. Jeremy Siepmann in his apologia which accompanies the disc asks appositely: "Did ever a pianist play with greater beauty (or greater simultaneous differentiation) of tone?" Answer: very few - and he refers to "the extraordinary subtlety of feeling [and] intimacy" and "innate, unprotesting nobility". I like that. You will also hear high good humour in the bubbling Bourrees of the Suite in what are altogether joyous performances relayed in amazingly good sound for 1956." -Gramophone
