- Richard Howard (Piano)
Notes & Reviews:
Born in Amarillo Texas, Richard Howard has a musical background that is as unique as the man. At the age of six, under the influence of his maternal grandfather, he developed a love for the piano and the world of Romantic and Impressionistic music. Considered a prodigy, he was encouraged through high school and the first years of college by Dr. Robert Hoffman, the principle pianist of the region. The free nature of Mr. Howard 's compositional and performance style led him to his work in the Romantic Russian and French Impressionistic tradition. Mr. Howard 's piano performances and music have been generously received through the years in recitals around the country. He is also a member of the biology teaching faculty of Amarillo College and is the Director and Senior Curator of the Amarillo College Natural History Museum. The seven pieces that make up Prairie Visions are the result of 30 years of composition, refinement and performance. The music is intended as an homage to the Texas Great Plains, which Howard has called home all his life.
