This is a very recent recording of one of Mozart's early operas. For this work 11 year-old Mozart used a story from Ovid's Metamorphoses. The text by Father Widl is in Latin. It is Mozart's first opera. A delightful piece which is testimony of Mozart's early maturity. Of course it is outranked by far by his later operas and probably therefore rarely heard. Inspired performances by the European Chamber Soloists and a selection of talented young singers under Nicol Matt.
